Grabbing method
The gripping method is the simplest and fastest way to change pallets when the load is rigid, pressure-resistant, and firmly positioned. In this process, the load is clamped on both sides, then the source pallet is lowered and can be easily replaced with a new one (e.g., using a pallet jack or roller conveyor). This solution takes up little space and is convenient to use, so it is often chosen for replacing damaged or inferior pallets to avoid problems down the line (especially with automation). Additionally, in industries with high hygiene requirements (e.g., food and pharmaceuticals), it enables a quick transition to pallets required in clean areas. When does this method make the most sense:
- robust goods: cardboard boxes, stable shrink-wraps/multipacks,
- quick replacement of damaged pallets in the process,
- places where simplicity and cost of implementation are important (this is one of the cheapest replacement methods).
